CRPS and Crutches to Dancing
/When I first met Amanda, I hadn’t been able to walk for four months and had a diagnosis of CRPS after dropping a vacuum cleaner part on my foot. I’d thought it a minor injury, but my foot turned blue and cold, I had crazy swelling, and I couldn’t tolerate the weight of a light blanket on my propped-up foot at night. Fortunately my doctor referred me to a podiatrist who specialized in CRPS. He said I had a subluxed cuboid bone, gave me a nerve block injection, and told me to start walking again, explaining that CRPS involves the sympathetic nervous system and the brain.
Prior to this, I’d had Lyme disease, mold illness, and mast cell activation disorder for twenty years, and I recovered my health and my life after doing a neuroplasticity-based program called DNRS. It seemed like a similar program might really help, but my podiatrist wanted me to see a pain specialist who would inject my spine. The idea of this freaked me out, but I felt pressure to follow my doctor’s orders, so I made an appointment with the pain specialist, secretly hoping I wouldn’t need it. The night before, I was half-heartedly researching success rates of the spinal nerve block on the internet, when instead I typed in “neuroplasticity and CRPS.” The search brought up Amanda and someone else’s CRPS healing story, and at last I had a concrete link to a neuroplasticity-based treatment.
I went to see the specialist the next morning and told him I’ll wait on the procedure. Instead, I came home and listened to Phil’s audiobook about the Lightning Process and contacted Amanda. Talking with her was even better than I could have imagined. She said she worked with many CRPS clients, including patients at the Spero Clinic. I didn’t need convincing of the LP myself, but I felt much more confident taking her credentials to my doctor. During the seminar, Amanda helped me realize that my fears around my doctor and my past experiences with the medical community were holding me back. I was also worrying about my future and not completely confident about my health. She helped me see all this clearly, and I immediately started to recover. I’m back to hiking and taking ballet classes, and I love that I have a new neuroplasticity-based tool to use in my daily life. I feel so grateful to have found Amanda when I did. I would not have figured out my issues without her. Thank you Amanda and the Lightning Process!
